Nine Inch Nails-La Mer
And when the day arrives, I’ll become the sky, and I’ll become the sea…And the sea will come and kiss me, for I am going home…nothing can stop me now. (translated from creole french)
NIN has a reputation of being called an ‘Industrial’ band, as they should be. But what’s frequently overlooked is Trent Reznor’s songwriting strength, able to write hard rock songs, dance-pop numbers, and masterfully crafted art-compositions. “La Mer” falls into this category, as a beautiful (mostly) instrumental piece revolving around a piano ostinato in 3/4 playing against the drums’ 4/4 beat.
